Indiana NORML wishes you and yours a great Thanksgiving! I would like to tell you of some of the things we are thankful for this year.
As Chairman/Executive Director I want to say how thankful I am to the Indiana NORML Board. We are all volunteer and every penny of donations go to making Cannabis legal in Indiana. Our Board is comprised of the best people we can find, all with an eye towards making our state better.
We are all thankful for our small army of volunteers who stepped up and ran events, collaborated on providing government with the best information we could find, and people who encouraged friends and family to register and vote for Cannabis candidate (some of whom won office or at least made the victors aware that Cannabis is a front-burner issue that they need to positively deal with). Our volunteers are chomping at the bit to get the 2019 legislative session underway on our quest to join the 33 medical states and 10 legal states.
And thank you to our citizens who have stood up for relegalization in phone calls and letters to public officials on local, state and federal levels. We’re also thankful for those of you who are occupying social media sites of officials, putting the Cannabis issue in front of their faces and constantly reminding them this issue shall be addressed and quickly, or their jobs will be in jeopardy.
Thanks to all the candidates of all Parties who realize the benefits of Cannabis to our state and in many cases showcased these issues in their campaigns. Even those who lost by and large gave their prohibitionist opponents a run for their money and made some of them realize they need to get on board.
We are thankful for those Hoosier legislators like Karen Tallian, Sue Errington, Jim Lucas, Mark Stoops and others who are leading the way to reform, and to all those who follow their lead.
We have a way to go before we have positive change in Indiana, but with all of the above people still in the battle who will be working harder than ever before, 2019 will be a year of great change, if not with all the legislation we need, at least in the attitude that we will finally be on track to achieve that which was not so long ago deemed impossible.
We are thankful for the opportunity to bring a better day to Indiana.
